Martin Friedrich

I am a senior researcher at the Institute for Employment Research (IAB) in Nuremberg, Germany. I will be visiting UC Berkeley from January to April 2026 through an Add-on Fellowship for Interdisciplinary Economics of the Joachim Herz Foundation.

My research interests are in labor economics and social policy. I am currently the principal investigator of a project on entrepreneurship and prior work experience that is funded by the German Research Foundation (click here for details). In addition, I work on wage inequality, the minimum wage, and employment in the gig economy.
